As far as I know, my mother created this recipe, and I put off trying it for a little while because it sounded odd. But when I finally decided to try it out, I understood why she’d been encouraging me to make them. They’re juicy, full of flavour, and super easy to make. Add cheese and top with your favourite condiments to make your perfect burger. My mother says these burgers are best when you swap a bun for a lettuce leaf, but I’m not going to recommend that.
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup oats
- 2 tbsps Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp steak spice
- 2 tsps Worcestershire sauce
- Whisk the eggs in a large bowl, and mix the ground beef in with the eggs.
- Stir in the oats, mustard, steak spice and Worcestershire sauce.
- Form the beef into large, flat patties and barbecue on medium-high heat about 10 minutes per side, or until the inside is no longer pink.
