Steak Salad

Steak salad is one of my all-time favourite dinners. Aside from marinating the steak, it’s super quick, and it’s so, so good. Blue cheese is an acquired taste, so if you’re not into it, sub in another soft cheese, like goat cheese. Add or remove whatever vegetables you prefer, as well.

  • 2 lb steak
  • 2/3 cup olive oil
  • 6 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 8 cups romaine lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced red onion

  1. Whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Set aside half.
  2. Place the steak in a shallow dish, and cover it with the other half of the dressing. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat grill to high heat.
  4. Oil the grill and place the steak on it, cooking each side for 3 to 5 minutes, or until it’s done to your liking. Remove the steak from the grill, let it cool, and slice it into thin strips.
  5. Arrange the vegetables onto large dinner plates, and add steak slices on top of each salad.
  6. Mix the blue cheese into the dressing and drizzle it over the salads.
