Summer is here and so are delicious smoothies

Smoothies are wonderful drinks year round, but are especially enjoyable in the summer since you are outside so often and need to stay hydrated in the warm weather! Now that summer is in full swing, why not start your day with a fruity drink that’s not only colourful and delicious, but also healthy and nutritious! When making smoothies, many people rely on yogurt and fruit juices that are full of sugar and unhealthy ingredients to assemble their tasty beverage. Using unhealthy ingredients completely contradicts the idea of a smoothie, which is supposed to be a tasty and healthy blended drink full of nutrients. Fortunately, there are countless lists of healthy smoothie recipes with nutrient packed super foods that taste much better than any sugary and unhealthy smoothie ingredient. Plus – smoothies can be fun and exciting because you can add your own favourite fruits and vegetables to your drink, while putting your own unique blend on the ingredients involved. The combination of smoothie ingredients are truly endless, so this summer make sure to kick back, relax and try one of these delicious smoothies.

Smoothie #1: Strawberry & Blueberry

– 1/2 cup of strawberries (frozen)

– 1/2 cup of blueberries (frozen)

– 1/2 cup of spinach

– 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla soy milk

 – 1 tsp of chia seeds

Smoothie #2: Blueberry, Banana, & Lemon

– 1/2 cup of blueberries (frozen)

– 1 banana

– 2 tbsp of lemon juice

– 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla soy milk

– 3/4 cup of unsweetened apple juice

– 1/2 cup of kale

Smoothie #4: Raspberry, Peach & Banana

– 1 cup of spinach

– 1 cup of water

– 1/2 cup of raspberries (frozen)

– 1 cup of peaches

– 1 banana

– 1 tsp of chia seeds

Smoothie #5: Strawberry, Mango & Peach

– 1/2 cup of strawberries (frozen)

– 1/2 cup of mangoes (frozen)

– 1/4 cup of peaches

– 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla soy milk

– 1 tbsp of goji berries

And there we have it! 5 new recipes to try and enjoy! Not to worry if they aren’t to your taste – the great thing about smoothies is that they give you the freedom to try any combination! If you don’t like soy milk, feel free to substitute with almond milk or if you are allergic to mangoes, substitute with peaches or bananas! Pick all of your favourite healthy ingredients, like chia seeds or goji berries, and throw them together in a blender! There is never any harm in trying something new this summer – especially if it’s good for you!
